Sodium Dodecylsulfate | GC204005-100g | 100 g |
Introduction
SDS, also known as sodium dodecyl sulfate, is easily soluble in water, but its solubility is sensitive to temperature and easy to precipitate from the solution at low temperature. It is a commonly used anionic surfactant, which can disintegrate the cell membrane, bind to the hydrophobic part of membrane protein and make it separate from the membrane. High concentrations of SDS can also break non-covalent bonds such as ionic and hydrogen bonds in proteins and even change the conformation of proteins. This property is often used in SDS gel electrophoresis for protein composition analysis, in which 10%SDS is often used as a reserve solution. In addition, SDS can rapidly destroy tissues and inhibit RNase and DNase activities, so SDS is also a key component in nucleic acid purification reagents.

Instruction
This product can be dissolved in pure water (G4701 was recommended) or distilled water for laboratory purpose. If 10% SDS solution is prepared, 100g SDS can be measured and slowly transferred to a beaker containing about 0.9L of water, and stirred with magnetic stirrer until completely dissolved. Set the volume to 1L with water. This step is for reference only and can be adjusted according to the experimental reagents.
Note
1. Operate in a ventilated place with proper protection to avoid inhalation or direct contact with skin.
2. SDS is easily soluble in water, but its solubility is sensitive to temperature. SDS is easy to precipitate from the solution at low temperature, and can be used normally after rewarming and dissolution.
3. For your safety and health, please wear lab coat and disposable gloves when operating.
